Kentfield Community Guide

Before donating to President Theodore Rooselvelt the land that would become nearby Muir Woods National Monument, the Kent family donated 23 acres at the former Ross Landing to create the College of Marin and the unincorporated community of Kentfeld was born. Nestled into a wooded valley bordered by the towns of Ross and Larkspur, gated estates in Kentfield have generous lots and diverse design roots ranging from grand Spanish-style estates to ultra-modern campuses. Governed by the Kent Woodlands Property Owner’s Association, design approval guidelines are thought to favor residents, making home renovations (a bit) less nerve-racking.

Kentfield offers excellent schools with Bacich (elementary) and Kent Middle School. Marin Catholic (a private high school), offers top-rate athletic facilities and an impressive array of team championships and trophies. It is also home to the primary campus of College of Marin, which offers wonderful continuing education classes such as Italian, art history, and photography.

Kentfield enjoys easy access to nearby Larkspur, San Rafael, and San Anselmo. However, there is one store in Kentfield that you can’t live without: Woodland’s Market. While not easy on the wallet, trust us, you will come to rely on Woodland’s convenience, popular prepared foods and great  produce selection.

Kentfield has great hiking trails from Crown Ridge to Hoo Koo Ekoo trails, which boast breathtaking views all the way to the Bay.
